"Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined after the team maintained a slow over rate during last evening's IPL match against Rising Pune Supergiants in Pune.

"Since it was his first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh," the IPL said in a statement.

In the game last night, sent into bat, RCB rode on De Villiers' 83 off 46 balls with the help of six boundaries and two sixes and Kohli's 80 off 63 deliveries, during which he struck seven fours and two hits over the fence, to post 185 for five.

Later, RCB bowlers rose to the occasion and managed to restrict Pune to 172 for eight.
