KXIP's dismal season ended at the bottom of the table. They managed to win only 3 matches in 14. They finished at No. 8 with just 6 points. Last year, they were the finalists, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru.
Earlier, a clinical performance by CSK bowlers restricted the KXIP to 130 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Axar Patel's late flurry lifts Kings XI
The CSK bowlers were at the top right from the beginning and didn't allow the home team much space to score. A late flurry by Axar Patel (32 off 29 balls; 2x4s, 1x6) lifted the Kings XI after they were reduced to 55 for 5.
Pawan Negi most successful bowler for CSK
For the CSK, Pawan Negi was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets for 25 runs while Ishwar Pandey, Ashis Nehra, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo took a wicket each.
