Man of the match Chris Gayle smashes 117 off 57 balls

Earlier, RCB opener Chris Gayle blasted 117 in just 57 balls against a hapless Kings XI bowling attack after the visitors won the toss and elected to bowl.

The Caribbean left-hander hit 12 sixes and 7 fours in his innings and it was only a superb reflex catch by Axar Patel that saw him return to the pavilion. Gayle's 117 was the second ton of this edition of the IPL after Chennai Super Kings' Brendon McCullum. Gayle was adjudged the man of the match.

It was on this ground that Gayle had slammed an unbeaten 175 off 66 balls against the Pune Warriors in the 2013 edition.
