New Delhi, April 23: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar feels Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Kieron Pollard should have been banned for 1 or 2 matches for his taped mouth act against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the Indian Premier League 2015 (IPL 8).

Pollard, after being warned by one of the on-field umpires following his "chat" with Chris Gayle, put a tape on his mouth while fielding, on Sunday (April 19).

Many had reacted funnily to this, including the MI players and support staff. Team-mate Harbhajan Singh had defended Pollard.

Today, as MI faced Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Ferozshah Kotla stadium, former New Zealand paceman Simon Doull, in his pre-match comments, slammed Pollard and said he should have been banned for 1 or 2 matches.

Gavaskar, who was in the "Sony MAX" TV studio, was asked for his views and he agreed with Doull. "I agree totally with Simon Doull," Gavaskar said.

He went on to add that Pollard was "defying" umpires and hoped that MI management would tell the West Indian to "tone it down". Gavaskar said disagreeing with the umpires was not right.
