India Vs England Test series: Parthiv Patel likely to be retained for Mumbai Test

If reports are to be believed, the left-handed Gujarat batsman may get a chance to play Mumbai Test as the team management seems to be in no hurry to put extra pressure over Saha.

As per a Mumbai Mirror report, the southpaw's performance kicked off the debate that he deserved more chances. Reports are cropping up that Saha might not attain full fitness for the Mumbai Test and Patel may get another game as India wicket-keeper.

Also, his positive batting in his comeback Test match after a gap of eight years impressed all and silenced the critics. With scores of 42 and 67 not out Parthiv, justified selectors' decision of picking him up.

He impressed skipper Virat Kohli so much that he did not rule out a possibility that along with second wicketkeeper's slot, he could also be an option as a backup opener.

With KL Rahul''s injuries, failure of Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan still to hit a good run of form, Parthiv has emerged as an another alternative for the skipper.

Asked if Parthiv could be Rahul's back-up, Virat sounded optimistic, "Wow, that's a good headache to be honest. You never know, there are all kinds of possibilities. The way he approached both the innings, it was amazing to see."

However, its still too early to predict as there is still a few days left for the Test match. But one this is for sure, Parthiv deserves a fair chance given his performance in Mohali Test.

Leading by 2-0 the Virat Kohli-led Indian side will face Alastair Cook's English team on December 8 in the fourth Test match.
