The Tamil Nadu spinner has scalped 71 wickets in 11 matches played this year. He had claimed 62 wickets last year.

He's now only behind Anil Kumble (74, in 2004) and Kapil Dev (74, 75 in 1979 and 1983, respectively) to become highest wicket-taker in year for the country.

Given the kind of form he's in and the added advantage of playing on his home turf at Chennai in the fifth and final Test, Ashwin has an opportunity to break those records.
