Debarati, who is popular as Romi, was continuously retorting Australian bowlers on Sunday (March 19) on the fourth day of the third Test at Ranchi.
She was happy that her husband slammed a brilliant 117 against shrewd Australian bowlers, who never missed a chance of sledging Saha to break his concentration.
Debarati was equally surprised to have watched her husband replying Australian pacers tooth and nail, throughout the innings.
Talking about her husband's impressive knock, Debarati laughed and said, “Wriddhiman is normally very cool person. Even if he gets angry he does not express much of it. But today I was astonished to have watched his vocal strength. He was also being able to sledge whenever Josh Hazlewood was sledging.”
Debarati generally does not sit in front of television when her husband bats. She said, “I cannot hold on to my nerves whenever he bats. That is why, I was not watching his batting today as well. But when he crossed 70, then I sat in front of television and as usual started getting tensed when he reached 90's.”
Talking about the century his wife said, “It has been a relief that everybody used to praise his wicket keeping till date. From now on, the specialists will also praise his batting.”
When Wriddhiman was asked about his sledging ability at the end of day's play, he said, “Now I am more mature. So I know how to deal with someone who sledges while bowling.”
Wriddhiman’s wife also remembered his husband’s double century in the recently held Irani Trophy against Gujarat.
She said, “In the Irani Trophy, he had the same excellent partnership with Pujara. I felt so happy today also as the same partners guided India to the commanding position in the ongoing test.”
Debarati is also elated to have watched that the fans at Ranchi had given continuous support to Wriddhiman.
She said, “After all, the place belongs to Mahendra Singh Dhoni. So, I was initially hesitant whether Wriddhiman will get public support.”
