Off these 500, India's iconic batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar, has represented the Indian side for almost 40 per cent of the matches.
In his career spanning 24 years, Sachin has played 200 Test matches for India. This is also the maximum by any cricketer in the world.

Master Blaster, who retired in 2013 from international cricket, is also the highest run scorer in Tests and scored maximum Test centuries (51) in Test cricket.

Tendulkar has also captained the Indian side in 25 Test matches between 1996 and 2006.
Former Australia captain and legendary batsman Ricky Ponting has played 168 Test matches who is a distant second.

Rahul Dravid (164) is the second Indian cricketer to have played maximum Test matches followed by VVS Laxman (145) and Anil Kumble (132).
