And speaking to the media on Saturday (September 17), Muralitharan revealed he is confident that New Zealand will also not be able to win the 3-Test series against India. The series starts in Kanpur on September 22 (Thursday).

According to Muralitharan, the Kiwis might have to face the same result South Africa were handed in the Test series last year.

Muralitharan said, "I can only say that they will fight. But it will truly be tough for them to defeat India on spinning tracks. I know New Zealand has got three good spinners and a formidable batting line-up in spite of the fact that Tim Southee has been ruled out of the series due to injury. Still, Indian batsmen so skilled in playing against spin bowling that it will be next to impossible for the Kiwis to win series."

Talking about the Indian team, he said, "The combination of Anil Kumble (coach) and Virat Kohli (captain) has been a blessing for Indian cricket. Kumble is not only experienced and intelligent but he was also a brilliant team-man during his playing days.

"And now as the national coach his one of the efforts must be to create the atmosphere where the team gets united. Interestingly, Kohli is also a superb team-man. So, I think it will be easy for both coach and skipper to set the team spirit always in a perfect tuning."

Incidentally, in a bid to bring more crowds at the Eden Gardens during the 2nd India-New Zealand Test (September 30 to October 4), CAB is planning to organise a talk-show on cricket between the 2 legends, Sunil Gavaskar and Kumble.

The Test at the Eden Gardens is scheduled to start from 30th September. And according to secretary, Abhishek Dalmiya, the talk-show is likely to be organised during the lunch break so that the spectators can get attracted.
