Dubai, June 15: Australia's Steve Smith has become the number one ranked Test batsman in the latest ICC Rankings.
Smith, who hit 199 and an unbeaten 54 in the 2nd and final Test against West Indies which concluded yesterday (June 14) with Australia whitewashing the hosts 2-0, now has 913 rating points to be on top of the world.
The 26-year-old Smith has been in great form, scoring 9 Test tons in 17 matches. He won the Man-of-the-match in yesterday's Test in Kingston.
Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara is second on the list followed by AB de Villiers of South Africa. Hashim Amla (South Africa) and Angelo Mathews (Sri Lanka) complete the top-five.
No Indians are in the top-10 of the Test batting rankings. The highest ranked is captain Virat Kohli at number 11. The next Indian is Murali Vijay at number 20.
In the ICC Test Rankings for bowlers, South African paceman Dale Steyn is at the top. Here too there is no Indian in the top-10. The highest is R Ashwin at 12th.
