New Delhi, Nov 14: The first cricketer to get a double hundred in ODIs, Sachin Tendulkar, today congratulated Rohit Sharma for becoming the first to achieve the feat twice.
Rohit smashed a 264-run knock against Sri Lanka in Kolkata last night to not just become the highest run-getter in an ODI innings but also the first batsman to notch up two double hundreds.
In the process, he surpassed Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, both of whom have got a double ton each. "I didn't get to see his innings but getting another double ton is special and I feel very happy for Rohit. A perfect form of match practice and preparations before the Australian tour," Tendulkar said.
Rohit's match-winning knock eclipsed the 209 he made against Australia last year. The right-hander struck 33 fours and 9 sixes during the knock, which is a record in ODIs, surpassing the 25 fours and 7 sixes by Sehwag during his knock of 219 against the West Indies in 2011. Tendulkar had also recorded 25 fours during his double century - 200 not out in 2010.
