Going by the trends released by Google over the past few years, the IPL has seen a constant rise in the search interest for the first six editions although the enthusiasm took a dip in 2014. The IPL made its debut in 2008 when the Rajasthan Royals lifted the crown.
Among the teams, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), considered the most consistent outfit in the history of the IPL with two crowns and two finalist titles, is the most searched team on Google this season. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and last year's finalists Kings Xi Punjab were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad were four wins in as many matches.
The most-searched match of this season so far has been the one between the CSK and DD in Chennai in which the former beat the latter by just one run.
West Bengal tops the list of places that are following the IPL the most. It is followed by Pondicherry, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Last year, the most number of searches had come from Andhra Pradesh followed by Tamil Nadu.
