Going global: Shah Rukh Khan now owns another T20 team

Mumbai, June 10: Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) owner and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan now owns another Twenty20 franchise - Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The third edition of CPL will be played from June 20 to July 26 with some of the big names including Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, in the Caribbean in action. Bravo is part of Shah Rukh's team and also features South African great Jacques Kallis, who has previous played for KKR.

Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited and KKR co-owners Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta have invested in Trinidad and Tobago team, "The Times of India" reported today.

Confirming this, Shah Rukh told the newspaper, "This is in line with our vision to expand globally . We are thrilled to become part of the cricketing tradition of Trinidad & Tobago."

"The passion for franchise cricket in the Caribbean is evident with the success of CPL and we hope to bring all the best practices of KKR to the T&T franchise," he added.

The title sponsor for this year's CPL is Hero MotoCorp Limited.
