New Delhi, Oct 20: India's ODI skipper MS Dhoni, Test captain Virat Kohli, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and several other current and former cricketers today joined to pay rich tributes to India's cricketing legend Virender Sehwag, who shocked one and all by announcing his retirement from all formats of the game on Tuesday (October 20).
October 20 also happens to be the birthday of 'modern day Viv Richards', 'Multan ka Sultan', 'Nawab of Najafgarh' or Team India's beloved 'Virupa'.
Sehwag, who made his international debut in 1999, in a ODI against Pakistan in Mohali, bows out of cricket having played 104 Tests, 251 ODIs and 19 T20Is.
The 'Nawab of Najafgarh' scored more than 17,000 international runs. Regarded as one of the greats of the game, Sehwag redefined batting. A fearless batsman, he had the attitude of see-the-ball-hit-the-ball. He was part of India's 2011 World Cup winning squad.
