From Twitter: Ravi Shastri under attack for 'abusing' pitch curator Sudhir Naik

Bengaluru, Oct 27: India's humiliating 214-run defeat to South Africa in the 5th ODI at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (October 25) has resulted in Team Director Ravi Shastri and Bowling Coach Bharat Arun targetting the pitch curator Sudhir Naik.

South Africa posted a mammoth 438/4 in 50 overs. In reply India were bowled out for 224 in 36 overs with that losing the series 2-3. The Proteas had 3 centurions in Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and captain AB de Villiers. (BCCI to look into Shastri-Naik argument)

After South Africa's dominant batting display, Shastri and Arun reportedly had a heated argument with Naik. The pitch curator has given a written complaint to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) stating that Shastri 'abused' him for preparing a batting wicket.

"We have received a letter from Sudhir Naik where he has alleged that two Indian team support staff members Shastri and Arun had a heated argument with him post the India versus South Africa game. The matter will be put up in the next MCA managing committee meeting," Unmesh Khanvilkar, joint secretary of MCA, told "The Indian Express" newspaper.

Former India player Shastri came under attack from fans and also ex-cricketers for his bad behaviour towards Naik.

"Ravi Shastri completely out of line to abuse Sudhir Naik, curator at Wankhede. Showed disrespect to age & fellow test cricketer," Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted.

Ravi Shastri was trending on Twitter on Tuesday morning (October 27). Many fans slammed his outburst and wanted to resign from the position. Some called it childish on his part to blame the pitch.
