Sydney, Jan 8: Young Indian opener Lokesh Rahul brought up his maiden Test century today on day 3 of the Sydney Test against Australia. The 22-year-old from Karnataka displayed a wide array of fabulous shots to earn praises from legends.
However, he was also lucky to have escaped a couple of dropped chances. With this century, Rahul became the second youngest batsmen to have scored a maiden century overseas. Rahul, who endured a torrid Test debut with just four runs in two innings in the draw in Melbourne last week, reached the milestone with his 11th four just before tea having faced 253 balls. (Rahul joins Gavaskar)
There were a few moments of luck too for Rahul, when he had an attempted pull off Shane Watson got a top-edge on it and Steve Smith dropped an easy chance for a catch, probably because of the Spidercam wire above him.
Rahul's stay at the crease finally came to an end when he went for a pull shot off Mitchell Starc and top-edged it. Starc completed a simple catch and Rahul's magnificient knock of 110 came to an end.
Immediately after Rahul's maiden Test century, former cricketers and fans from all over India heaped praises, via Twitter.
So, here are some of the reactions from Twitter.

Another Rahul rises in Indian cricket: good to see a batsman score a 'test' match hundred. Slow and measured.— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) January 8, 2015
