CPL: Chris Gayle smashes 9 sixes as Jamaica win by 10 wickets

Gros Islet (St. Lucia), June 29: Captain and opener Chris Gayle hammered 9 sixes and 6 fours to lead Jamaica Tallawahs to a thumping 10-wicket victory over St. Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Twenty20 tournament on Sunday (June 28).

At the Beausejour Stadium, it was Gayle versus Kevin Pietersen and the former triumphed. Pietersen failed with the bat managing only 26 off 25 (1x4, 1x6).

Zouks were restricted to 118/9 in 20 overs and in reply, riding on Gayle's blistering 36-ball 90 not out (strike rate of 250), Tallawahs cruised home with 10 overs and 10 wickets to spare.

Kirshmar Santokie (3/24) and Rusty Theron (3/19) were the bowling heroes for the winning side.

St. Lucia Zouks 118/9 in 20 overs (Johnson Charles 29, Kevin Pietersen 26, Krishmar Santokie 3/24, Rusty Theron 3/19) lost to Jamaica Tallawahs 121/0 in 10 overs (Chris Gayle 90 not out, Chadwick Walton 25 not out).
