Brad Haddin equals Australia's wicket-keeping record

By PTI

Brisbane, Dec 18: Brad Haddin today equalled the record for most dismissals in a Test innings by an Australian wicketkeeper during India's first innings score of 408 in the ongoing second Test at the Gabba here.

Day's ReportDay's Report

Haddin finished with six scalps - all caught - when India were bowled out in 109.4 overs at lunch on the second day of the Test. Haddin now finds himself in the elite group of Wally Grout, who snared six at Wanderers Stadium in the 1957-58 series against South Africa, Rod Marsh (vs England at Brisbane, 1982-83) and Ian Healy (vs England at Edgbaston, 1997).

Haddin though had a chance to become the outright record holder but he failed to latch on to a tough chance from Varun Arun off Nathan Lyon.

The overall Test record for most dismissals in an innings by a wicketkeeper is seven, held by Pakistan's Wasim Bari (1978-79), England's Robert Taylor (1979-80), Ian Smith of New Zealand (1990-91) and Ridley Jacobs of West Indies (2000-01).

By virtue of the six scalps, Haddin (246) leapfrogged Alec Stewart (241) to move into ninth spot on the list of most Test dismissals by a wicketkeeper.
