However, speaking to "Times Now" TV channel in the evening, Ganguly denied that he had spoken to Dalmiya on this matter. But when questioned further he did not say he was not interested in the job.

When asked whether Rahul Dravid or he would be a better coach of the Indian team, he replied "both."

"Both of can be. Rahul is a great player," Ganguly told the channel.

He added that he meets Dalmiya everyday since both are Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) office-bearers. Dalmiya is the president and Ganguly is joint secretary.

BCCI is hunting for Duncan Fletcher's replacement. Fletcher's contract ended after the World Cup 2015 last month.
