Hubballi, Sep 29: Mayank Agarwal became the first batsman to score 1,000 runs in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) Twenty20 tournament, during the course of his unbeaten 66 (31 balls, 7x6, 3x4) against Rockstars on Wednesday (September 28).
The right-handed Mayank, who represented Davangere Diamonds in the first two years of KPL, during 2009 and 2010, made 398 during those years. When the KPL was revived in 2014 he represented Bellary Tuskers and made 167 runs.
He has been turning out for Belagavi Panthers these last 2 years and has amassed 451 runs. He has thus far accumulated 1,016 runs from 32 outings in KPL cricket.
The 25-year-old Mayank plays for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was praised by Yuvraj Singh during last year's tournament. The Bangalore batsman has played 22 first-class matches for Karnataka.
