Melbourne, Dec 28: India's Virat Kohli was targeted by Australian players with a lot of sledging during the third day's play of the 3rd Test here at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
At the end of day's play, Kohli revealed that the hosts' players had called him a "spoilt brat" and he said, "I love an argument and they don't seem to be learning their lesson." (Kohli blows kisses to Anushka)
"It was going on throughout the day. They were calling me a spoilt brat and I said 'maybe that's the way I am. You guys hate me and I like that'. I don't mind having a chat on the field and it worked in my favour I guess," Kohli said.
With Kohli scoring freely, the Australians were frustrated and resorted to sledging. It all started when paceman Mitchell Johnson's throw towards the stumps hit Kohli in the 83rd over.
Johnson's throw off his own bowling was not deliberate and he immediately apologised to Kohli. However, at the end of the same over few words were exchanged between the duo. Kohli was not pleased with Johnson. Later, he said, "He should throw it at the stumps, not my body."
The chat between Kohli and Johnson continued for the rest of the day. During one of Johnson's overs, Kohli hit him for a boundary and blew kisses to the bowler after the latter had said something.
Despite all that chat on the field, Kohli came out on top, constructing a masterclass knock of 169. He was dismissed off the last ball of the day by Johnson. India ended the day at 462/8, still 68 behind.
