Australia will rout India 4-0, says Glenn McGrath

Sydney, Nov 21: Former paceman Glenn McGrath has said Australia will whitewash India 4-0 in the Test series starting next month in Brisbane.

McGrath, who is known to make his pre-series predictions when Australia plays, thinks Indians will be routed. India will face Australia in a four-Test series, beginning in Brisbane on December 4. MS Dhoni will sit out the opener due to an injury and Virat Kohli will take over the captaincy.

"I have no issues with saying I think it'll be 4-0," McGrath told "Sydney Morning Herald".

"The way the Australian team played last season over here, they were awesome. If they can get anywhere near that, they'll win and win quite convincingly.

"I saw India play the last three Test matches in the UK and by the end of it, they were a bit of a rabble," McGrath added.

Australia had thrashed India when Dhoni and his men were here last time in 2012.

McGrath said India were a quality ODI and T20 side but had a "bit of work" to do in the five-day format.

"They're still a quality one-day and T20 team but they've got a bit of work to do at Test level, especially on the bouncy wickets over here," McGrath said.

"Historically they've never played well with a bit of bounce and seam. They're going to have their work cut out for them. They're going to have to lift their game comparative to where they were in the UK.

"They've got to turn things around big time otherwise they're going to get thumped over here as we did in India. It's been a one-sided recent series. We won 4-0 over here, they won 4-0 over there. Potentially, I think, it's going to be exactly the same when they come here," said McGrath.
