Mirpur (Bangladesh), June 24: What is the best way for the Indian batsmen to ward off the threat posed by Bangladesh left-arm paceman Mustafizur Rahman? Well make him not play at all in the 3rd and final ODI today by planning a "kidnap". (Best quotes on Dhoni by team-mates)
Well, there is no such extreme step to be taken. It was only in jest that offspinner R Ashwin replied when asked by the media on how to counter the young bowler, who has so far taken a world record 11 wickets in 2 matches.
"There isn't a counter as such. I mean what can we do? Can we kidnap him (Mustafizur Rahman)? See it is not a media news. It's international cricket. Everybody is a professional to analyse what needs to be done," Ashwin said yesterday (June 23).
Ashwin added that the Indians had to give the 19-year-old bowler respect. "He does bowl a good cutter, which is something we have to watch out for. We have to give him the respect as well. Respect is what is important in international cricket," he said.
Bangladesh, having already sealed the 3-match series with 2-0 lead, will aim to complete a historic whitewash today at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.
It will be interesting to see how the Indians handle Mustafizur.
