Galle, July 26: Sri Lankan batsman Asela Gunaratne will miss the rest of the first Test at Galle against India after he suffered a broken thumb on Wednesday (July 26).
Gunaratne dropped Shikhar Dhawan and in the process injured his thumb and he has been taken to a hospital in Colombo.
Reports say he will have an operation on his thumb soon at Colombo, ruling him out of the first Test and possibly from the remainder of the series as well.
The injury has compounded Sri Lanka's woes after the hosts struggled to make an impact with the ball on the first morning of the first Test here.
