Pakistan Super League's (PSL) official logo was unveiled in Lahore last night (September 20) with some of the big names in international cricket including Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Lasith Malinga having signed up.

England's former captain Pietersen confirmed his participation in the league via a video message during the logo's launch event on Sunday.

"Absolutely buzzing to be a part of the Pakistani mela coming up in February. I can't wait to get it started," Pietersen said.

"It looks like it is going to be a wonderful competition. Lots of fun, lots of sixes, lots of wickets, typical T20 stuff," the right-hander added.


Here is all you need to know about PSL

Name of the T20 league: Pakistan Super League (PSL)

Tournament dates: 4 February to 24, 2016

Total number of matches: 24

Total teams: 5 (Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta)

Number of players in each side: 16 including 4 overseas players

Venue: Most likely in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Earlier, it was announced the tournament could be played in Doha, Qatar

Why PSL is not played in Pakistan?

Due to security reasons international teams are not travelling to Pakistan to play cricket. However, recently Zimbabwe became the first Test side to tour Pakistan since the 2009 terrorist attacks on Sri Lankan team in Lahore

Also most of the Pakistan's super stars including Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Mohammad Hafeez will be a part of the tournament, organised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja are PSL Ambassadors
