Rahane, while fielding in Canberra, got injured and had 4 stitches on the webbing of his right hand. He walked out to bat at No. 7 as India chased 349. However, batting in pain, he was out for just 2 and India lost the match by 25 runs after being in a winning position.

Injured Ajinkya Rahane might play the 5th ODI

According to the Indian team management, Rahane is recovering and they will take a call on him tomorrow at the ground. As of now he is in contention to play.

"He (Rahane) had a few sticthes and he had taken local anesthesia so we had to wait and push him down the order so he gets some kind of feeling back in his hand, then only he could bat," Indian captain MS Dhoni had said after the 4th ODI.

Australia lead the 5-ODI series 4-0. Captain Steve Smith said their goal was to whitewash India on Saturday in Sydney. The 2 teams will also play 3 T20Is starting from January 26 (Tuesday).
