Ajinkya Rahane becomes India's 23rd ODI captain; Here is the full list

Harare, July 10: Ajinkya Rahane today became India's 23rd One Day International captain when he led the side against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the 3-game series.

Rahane lost the toss in his opening match as India's leader at the Harare Sports Club stadium. Zimbabwe's skipper Elton Chigumbura invited India to bat first.

Rahane, the 27-year-old from Mumbai, joined an elite club of Indian captains on Friday. India's first ever ODI skipper was Ajit Wadekar in 1974. MS Dhoni holds the record for captaining India in most matches - 181. He is also the most successful with 101 wins.

India will play 3 ODIs and 2 Twenty20 Internationals in Zimbabwe. The selectors appointed Rahane as the captain while resting regular skipper MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina.
