After World Cup snub, Yuvraj Singh hits 2nd consecutive century

Pune, Dec 22: After being ignored by the BCCI selection committee for the 30-man World Cup squad, Yuvraj Singh is reminding them that he is still capable of scoring big.

The left-hander today hit his 2nd hundred in a row in the Ranji Trophy. After scoring 130 (160 balls, 14x4, 5x6) in the second innings, after 59 in the 1st, for Punjab against Haryana on December 9, Yuvraj struck another century on Monday, this time against Maharashtra.

At the tea break on Monday, Yuvraj was batting on 114 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Yuvraj, 33, scored at a good strike rate, his 114 not out coming off 139 balls with 21 fours and 1 six. Thanks to his ton, Punjab took the first innings lead. He was dismissed for 136 (160 balls, 25x4, 1x6).

Maharashtra were bowled out for 210 and now Punjab are 262/4 at tea on the second day of the four-day match. Punjab ended the day at 370/8 in 93 overs.

Yuvraj has not played a ODI for India since December 11, 2013. His last appearance in a India jersey was in April this year, in the World T20 final against Sri Lanka.
