Bengaluru, April 29: Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) explosive opener Chris Gayle achieved another world record in Twenty20 cricket during their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2015 on Wednesday night.
The big-hitting Jamaican, who already holds the record for most sixes in IPL history with over 200, completed 500 sixes (in 201 T20 games) tonight at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. On April 13, Gayle had hit his 200th six in IPL, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the same ground.
Gayle is the first player to hit 500 sixes in the history of Twenty20s. The next best is far away - Kieron Pollard with 348.
The 35-year-old Gayle hit one six during his brief 10-run (off 4 balls) knock today. He hit a four and a six (down the ground over long-off) in the opening over of the match from Tim Southee but was out off the next ball after setting a world record.
