Dharamsala, March 25: India captain Virat Kohli could not play the 4th Test against Australia due to a shoulder injury but that did not keep him away from the field of action on the opening day at the HPCA Stadium today (March 25).

With Kohli failing to fully recover from his shoulder injury which he sustained during fielding in the 3rd Test in Ranchi, Ajinkya Rahane walked out for the toss with rival skipper Steve Smith. (Kohli out injured)

Smith won the toss and chose to bat in good batting conditions. With the game as early into the 6th over, the match ball had gone out of shape and it had to be changed.

With the umpires calling for change in ball, there was stoppage in play. This gave an opportunity for Kohli to walk onto the field with other resever players to interact with his team-mates. Kohli came onto the field with water and energy drink bottles and handed them to the players. Expectedly there were huge cheers from the crowd.

Whether he is injured or not, Kohli wants to make himself available and be closer to the action. Kohli is likely to continue with his "drinks man" duty throughout the Test.

Some were left wondering what the Australians would be thinking with Kohli making appearance on the field.
