Dharamsala, March 24: Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been added to the Indian squad on the eve of the 4th and series-deciding Test against Australia.
4th Test preview; Kohli doubtful
Today (March 24), the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) selectors included Shami and batsman Shreyas Iyer in the squad, making it a 17-member outfit.
India and Australia will face off from tomorrow at HPCA Stadium here in the 4th Test. The rubber is locked at 1-1.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee met earlier today to add fast bowler Mohammed Shami and batsman Shreyas Iyer in the India Cricket Team for the final Test of the four-match Paytm Test series against Australia," BCCI said in a media advisory on Friday evening.
Mumbai right-hander Iyer was brought in as a cover for captain Virat Kohli, who is doubtful for the game after sustaining a shoulder injury in the previous Test in Ranchi.
Shami has missed international cricket since November 2016 due to injury in his right leg. He returned to domestic action this month, playing for Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day tournament.
He took 4 wickets in the tournament's final in Delhi on March 20. However, his fine spell could not prevent Tamil Nadu from defeating Bengal by 37 runs.
