Kohli's classy 154 not out powered India to a 7-wicket victory over New Zealand in the 3rd ODI last night (October 23) at the IS Bindra Stadium.
Thanks to Kohli's 26th ODI hundred, India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series against the Kiwis. (Kohli among the best: Dhoni)
With his latest ton, Kohli equalled Tendulkar's record, according to statisticians. This was the Delhi right-hander's 14th century in successful run chases. Tendulkar too constructed same number of three-figure scores in batting second and helping in India's winning cause.
However, Kohli is far ahead of Tendulkar in terms of innings taken to reach 14 tons. Tendulkar took 124 visits to the crease while Kohli has compiled 14 second innings hundreds in victories in only 59 innings. Overall, Kohli has 16 hundreds while batting second, one short of Tendulkar's.
Now, Kohli has moved to number four in all-time ODI century makers list. Tendulkar leads with 49 followed by Ricky Ponting (30) and Sanath Jayasuriya (28). Kohli went past Kumar Sangakkara (25) on Sunday night.
