2011 World Cup win: Tendulkar reveals he listened to same Hindi song for 7 days

Mumbai, Feb 6: Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has revealed how he listened to the same Hindi movie song on way to winning the World Cup.

Tendulkar, who realised his dream of lifting the World Cup at his home ground - Wankhede Stadium on April 2, 2011, has recalled those moments leading up to the triumph against Sri Lanka in the final.

Writing for "India Today" magazine, Tendulkar on Friday said he listened to Amit Kumar's song "Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" (Movie - Balika Badhu) for 7 days on the eve of India's semi-finals against Pakistan to the final in Mumbai.

"Soon after we landed in Mohali for the semi-final against Pakistan, I asked my team mates in the bus if any of them had the Amit Kumar song 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain'," Tendulkar said.

"It was Mane kaka, our masseur, who did. It was the only song I listened to for the next seven days," he added. However, Tendulkar did not say whether he stuck to the same son due to superstition or otherwise.

Tendulkar played in a joint record (with Pakistan's Javed Miandad) 6 World Cups. He made his World Cup debut in 1992 and wen on to win the trophy in 2011.

The Master Blaster, who retired from international cricket in 2013, is the leading run scorer (2,278 runs) in World Cup history and also the highest centur maker with 6 tons.

The 2015 edition of World Cup will be played in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29.
