India continued to dominate as they took lead in the 1st innings. This was Dhawan's 2nd consecutive Test hundred after making 173 against Bangladesh in Fatullah in June.

August 13 is celebrated as International Left-Handers Day every year. And the 29-year-old Dhawan made it memorable for himself with an impressive knock.

On the opening day of the Test, off-spinner R Ashwin bamboozled the hosts' batsmen and took 6 wickets. Sri Lanka were bundled out for a paltry 183 after choosing to bat. India had ended the first day at 128/2.

This is a 3-match series. The second Test is in Colombo from August 20.
