Dharamsala, Oct 3: India's Virat Kohli on Friday (October 2) broke another record during the first Twenty20 International against South Africa.

At the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium on last night, South Africa defeated India by 7 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.
Despite the loss, there were few individual records for India. Rohit Sharma hit his maiden T20I hundred and registered India's highest individual score (106) in the format. MS Dhoni became the first captain in T20Is to lead a team in 50 matches.
Kohli, India's best batsman in recent times, completed 1,000 runs in T20I cricket. He is the first Indian to the mark. He scored 43 off 27 balls (1x4, 3x6) yesterday.
Also, Kohli is now the fastest to 1,000 T20I runs club. He needed 27 innings (29 matches) to reach the milestone. In 29 matches so far, the 26-year-old has 1,015 runs with 9 half centuries. The Delhi youngster made his debut against Zimbabwe in 2010.
The right-handed Kohli bettered Englishmen Alex Hales and Kevin Pietersen's records. The duo had taken 32 visits to the crease to reach 1,000 runs.
