1st T20I: Glenn Maxwell smashes 145* as Australia post world record 263/3

Pallekele (Sri Lanka), Sep 6: Opener Glenn Maxwell blasted a 65-ball 145 not out to help Australia to a world record 263/3 in 20 overs in their 1st Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka here tonight (September 6). Australia won the match by 85 runs.

Maxwell smashed 9 sixes and 14 fours in his brilliant knock. Thanks to his superlative innings, Australia posted the highest ever T20I score.

Australia broke Sri Lanka's 9-year-old record. The Islanders held the record after their 260/6 against Kenya in Johannesburg in 2007.

The 27-year-old Maxwell, promoted to open the batting, brought up his century in just 49 balls. Maxwell's score is the second highest in T20Is, behind compatriot Aaron Finch's 156.
