London, Mar 15: Angel Di Maria, Manchester United winger will play next season, according to manager Louis van Gaal. Poor form and his sending off in the 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Arsenal had led to speculation that the record £59.7m signing may seek a move from the club.

But Van Gaal said: "I think he'll stay. His reaction and attitude after the defeat and the red card has been good."United manager also said the club owners, the Glazer family, were pleased' with his management of the club.

There was an attempted robbery at Argentine star's house last month and Di Maria was left shaken by an attempted robbery as he was watching television with his wife and young daughter in Cheshire. Three thieves used the metal poles to break through patio doors while the Argentina winger, his wife Jorgelina and one-year-old daughter Mia were at their Cheshire mansion.

Reports have suggested that Di Maria has now put that house up for sale, sparking suggestions that he is not happy at United, with Van Gaal offering these comments on his out of form star man when pressed by UK Sunday Daily.

"Despite this incident with his family at his Cheshire mansion, the 27-year-old Argentine is very pleased to be here at Manchester United," said United's manager Van Gaal.

"A player is not just a man who kicks the ball from A to B. Also, his environment is influencing him. So, I shall always be open for that conversation, but I know also the commercial interests of the club and we have to respect that.

"You cannot give a lot of money for a player and then next season put him out of your selection. I think that he shall stay because what I have seen in his reaction, after the defeat and after his red card against Arsenal, is very good. I like his attitude," he added.

Di Maria will sit out Sunday's Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspurs due to suspension following his sending off against Arsenal last Monday.
