London, Aug 31: English Premier League giants Chelsea FC are all set to bring back their former star defender David Luiz for £32m from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day, according to the European media.
The 29-year-old Brazilian centre-back was sold by the Blues in 2014 to Ligue 1 giants PSG for a world record transfer fee for a defender, £50m.
The Blues have been in search of a quality central defender from the beginning of the transfer window. Manager Antonio Conte had eyed Alessio Romagnoli and Kalidou Koulibaly from AC Milan and Napoli respectively, but unfortunately they received snubbing from both clubs.
Conte wants an astute defender in the Chelsea backline who can provide the side their much needed stability. At present veteran player and club legend John Terry is starting alonside English international Gary Cahill.
But considering Terry's age, the club definitely needs a solid defender to support Cahill. Luiz would perfectly fit into the Chelsea squad given the fact that he had already played at the club pairing up with Gary Cahill and John Terry.
It is now upto PSG if they would be interested in selling one of their star players. They had spent a bomb to bring home the Brazilian and now it is very unlikely that they would sell him back within 2 seasons for a much lesser price.
