New Delhi, Oct 13: Ace Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar on Thursday (Oct 13) said she can't even think of returning the BMW car gifted to her by India's cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar to return her gift - BMW car
Expressing her inability to maintain a luxury car in Agartala, celebrated gymnast has requested that she should instead be given a cash prize equivalent to the vehicle's cost as there are no service centres in the state.
"Getting any gift from Sachin (Tendulkar) sir is a big thing. Can't even think of returning it. No return or refusal, just that there is no showroom, service centre of BMW in Agartala, so I was talking about a possibility," Dipa told ANI.

The 23-year-old, who scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics, produced a memorable performance at the big event in Rio finishing 4th in the vault event.

A BMW car was gifted to her by the Hyderabad District Badminton Association president Chamundeswaranath in appreciation of her performance.
(Dipa may get cash instead of BMW car due to maintenance problems)
She was presented the keys of the car by Sachin Tendulkar at a felicitation ceremony where she was honoured alongside Olympic silver-medallist shuttler PV Sindhu and bronze-winning wrestler Sakshi Malik.
However, Dipa says she wants to return the gift as roads in Agartala are too narrow for a BMW and also the city does not have a single BMW showroom or service centre.
"Very thankful to Sachin sir for gifting me BMW but cannot maintain in tripura, so giving back. Thank you for agreeing to give funds for it," Dipa tweeted on Wednesday (Oct 12).

Even her coach Bisheswar Nandi was earlier quoted as saying that he has requested an "amount equivalent to the value of the car" should be transferred to Dipa's account.
Hyderabad District Badminton Association President Chamundeswaranath said he will have a word with the gymnast on the difficulties she is facing in handling the vehicle.
