British journalist slammed on Twitter for mocking India's '2 losing medals' at Rio Olympics

Bengaluru, Aug 24: Eminent British journalist Piers Morgan was slammed on Twitter by Indian fans after he tweeted mocking India for celebrating the country's performance at the Rio Olympics 2016.

Indian female wrestler Sakshi Malik and shuttler PV Sindhu were the only two Indian Olympians to win medals at Rio.

Malik bagged bronze medal in women's 58 kg wrestling category and PV Sindhu won the first ever silver medal for India in women's badminton category.

While the achievement was below par, it does not take anything away from the two Olympians and Indians have every reason to celebrate Sakshi and Sindhu's triumphs.

Morgan on Twitter, today (August 24) wrote: Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that?

This was uncalled for from the veteran journalist who insulted Indians as well as Sakshi and PV Sindhu by belittling their achievement.

This was Piers Morgan's tweet:

As soon as the Indian fans saw this they flocked Twitter in numbers replied back to the Britisher.
