Bray Wyatt should defend his WWE championship against Roman Reigns

If Randy Orton is unmoved with his decision then it is likely that Bray Wyatt will have a brand new opponent and as per the WWE’s rule, it should be Roman Reigns.

Bengaluru, Feb 22: A very interesting championship scenario has come up to us that should be happening at Wrestlemania, this year.

This came out of nowhere after Randy Orton refused to face Bray Wyatt for the WWE title at the biggest event of the year.

If Randy Orton is unmoved with his decision then it is likely that Wyatt will have a brand new opponent and as per the WWE's rule, it should be Roman Reigns.

It was pointed out by wrestlingINC.com who stated that if by any means the winner of the Royal Rumble does not intend to go on to the main event scene at Wrestlemania then the runner up should be awarded a title opportunity.

It was Roman Reigns who was the last one eliminated by Randy Orton and hence he should get an automatic title match against Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania.

However, we should remember the fact that these two men belong to different brands and the culmination of this match is quite unlikely.

Previously, Randy Orton was bound to challenge the champion from Smackdown now that the brand split is in full effect since the winner of the Royal Rumble gets a straight ticket to Wrestlemania.

But being a member of the Wyatt family he refused to face his leader which automatically makes Roman Reigns the contender for the WWE championship, as per WWE rulebook.

This kind of scenario has happened only once when a Royal Rumble winner decided to leave his opportunity to compete in a WWE championship match.

It was in 1999 when Mr. McMahon won the Rumble match but refused to face The Rock in the title match. The Boss wanted to choose a number one contender of the main event.

However, the then Raw commissioner, Shawn Michaels pointed out to the loophole by saying if the Royal Rumble winner is “unwilling or unable to go to WrestleMania to fight the champion, then the runner-up gets all rights and privileges." By virtue of this, Stone Cold Steve Austin got the opportunity.

As of now, the planning around the WWE championship is still unclear. It will unfold gradually in the upcoming weeks of Smackdown Live, for sure.
