Arjuna awardee boxer Jai Bhagwan suspended from Haryana Police for taking bribe

Hisar Oct 7: Ace Indian boxer and Arjuna Awardee, Jai Bhagwan, has been suspended for allegedly accepting bribe in Haryana.

Jai Bhagwan, employed as a police inspector in Haryana Police at Hissar, has been allegedly caught for demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a businessman. Bhagwan has got a job in Haryana Police under sports quota.

As per reports, Bhagwan demanded ransom to release three men caught under charges of betting.

One more policeman has also been suspended along with Bhagwan.

As per reports, SP Satendra Gupta received a complaint against Bhagwan, incharge of Adampur Police station, that the boxer-turned-cop allegedly arrested three youths from their shop under false charges.

SP initiated a DSP level probe against Jai Bhagwan for the incident which happened on Aug 31.

As per reports, one of the complainants, Mukesh Goel, Jai Bhagwan demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for releasing the youths and even pressurized them to give Rs 10,000 per month. The youths were released after they handed over Jai Bhagwan, the money.

The DSP has found the former boxer guilty in his investigation. The Superintendent of Police has confirmed that Bhagwan has been found guilty of taking bribe and he has been suspended.

Jai Bhagwan had won a bronze medal in 2010 Commonwealth Game in New Delhi and had bagged two medals in Asian Games.
