Bangalore gets ready to host World Snooker Championship

Pankaj Advani will be seen in action
Bangalore, Oct 29: Over 200 players including Indian star and 2003 champion Pankaj Advani will be seen in action at the IBSF World Snooker Championship for Men, Women and Masters at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here in the city from November 16 to 29.

"As of now, 217 players from 42 countries are confirmed. 110 men from 40 countries, 41 women from 14 countries and 66 Masters from 27 countries," a media release from Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) said.

Indian participation will see 24 players (men, women and masters). However, the hosts are trying to get few more wild card entries.

The organisers have started preparations for this big event.

  • Men (8): Pankaj Advani, Kamal Chawla, Brijesh Damani, Dharminder Lilly, Faisal Khan, Sandeep Gulati, Laxman Rawat, Shivam Arora
  • Ladies (8): Vidya Pillai, Chitra M, Amee Kamani, Neeta Sanghvi, R Uma Devi, Neena Praveen, Aranxta Sanchez, Meenal Thakur
  • Masters (8): Alok Kumar, Nadeem Ahmed, K Venkatesham, Farhad Tengra, BVS Murthy, KS Naveen, Rafath Habib, SA Saleem

Prize Money


  • Men Championship minimum prize fund $16,000
  • Group Highest Break - US$100 per group
  • Championship Highest Break - US$500 + Certificate

  • Women Championship minimum prize fund US$ 6,000
  • Group Highest Break - US$50 per Group
  • Championship Highest Break - US$200 + Certificate

  • Masters Championship minimum prize fund US$ 8,000.00
  • Group Highest Break - US$50 per Group
  • Championship Highest Break - US$300 + Certificate

Prize money breakdown

  • Winner - Trophy, Certificate and Medal as Champion = 40%
  • Runner-up - Trophy, Certificate and Medal as Runner-up = 20% 
  • 3rd place x 2 - Trophy, Certificate and Medal = 20% 
  • 5th-8th - Certificate for reaching the last 8 = 10% 
  • 9th-16th - Certificate for reaching the last 16 = 10% 
  • 17th-32nd - Certificate for qualifying for the last 32
