Van Persie's grandfather Opa Wim's picture of imitating the goal-finishing pose was on Twitter, posted by a Dutch football writer on Wednesday (June 17).

The sensational header on Friday (June 13) from Van Persie has turned into an internet sensation. It is still being discussed on social media. On Wednesday, hashtag #persieing was trending on Twitter for that goal and Opa Wim's picture was posted under this trend. Van Persie scored two goals in Salvador on that day as Netherlands hammered reigning champions Spain 5-1.

Last year, Van Persie's grandfather celebrated his grandson's English Premier League title success with Manchester United. In April, 2013, he had watched on TV his grandson scoring a goal against Aston Villa which gave the EPL title to Manchester.

"I will give him a big fat kiss and thank him for all the football joy he gave me last Monday," Wim had said last year responding to Man United's title win.

In January, 2012, Van Persie, playing for Arsenal, had unveiled a personal birthday message for his granddad. Under his T-shirt he had a message which read: "Happy 91st Birthday Opa Wim".

This time around, Opa Wim will be hoping his grandson goes on to win the World Cup in Brazil.
