London, July 12: English Premier League giants Arsenal FC have decided to place a bid for Argentine star striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that though Arsenal are closely linked with Higuain, club manager Arsene Wenger is not willing to pay Napoli's asking price og the player which is pretty huge and in exchange are ready to offer French striker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud, who joined Arsenal in 2012 from Montpellier has been a loyal servant to the Gunners. The Frenchamn has served the club with all his means. He scored 24 goals last season for Arsenal and has been one of their standout performers.

Unfortunately, Giroud's contribution to the team has never been enough for the fans as they want a striker of better capabilities, someone who can lead the club's frontline and score more 35 goals a season.

Gonzalo Higuain was in a stunning form last season as he scored 36 goals in total and was one of the top strikers in Europe.

Arsenal were eyeing Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy earlier this summer but the deal fell through when Vardy himself announced that he is staying back at the club. The Gunners are in search of a quality striker for almost 3 seasons now since the beparture of Robin van Persie. Every season witnesses Arsenal getting linked with a star player and eventually the deal never materialises. So until Higuain's deal is finalised the fans should not be hopeful.

The English side is also linked with Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata, but considering the amount the Spanish giants would as for the striker, Arsenal is pretty much of the race. Also Olympique Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette is also linked with the Gunners. The French forward is being linked with the club since last season, but Wenger had refused to pay £30m last time.
