Raipur, Nov 12: The first phase of the Chhattisgarh assembly polls on Monday saw 67 per cent voter turnout, something which many claimed to be impressive, given the Maoist threat factor. The extremists did not spare any effort to undermine the democratic process in the BJP-ruled state and there were even zero voter turnout in many polling booths.
Yet on an average, people from the 18 constituencies that went to the polling on Monday received a pat on their back for casting their votes despite threats from the ultras.
The second phase of the Chhattisgarh polls is scheduled on November 19.
