Sonia Gandhi to address rallies today in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 12: In a bid to woo voters once again,

President

will be addressing rallies in parts of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

The region cast its vote in the first phase of assembly polls on Monday, which were marred by dark clouds of violence by maoists. In spite of violence related issues, the voter turnout by the end of the polls reached 67 per cent.

Second phase of polls will be held on Nov 19

Sonia Gandhi will address rallies in Durg and Ambikapur, there by kickstarting the party's campaign for the second phase of elections. The second phase of elections will be held on Nov 19. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be back on Nov 16 to address rallies in Surajpur and Bilaspur.

Reports also suggest that senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu will also be in Chhattisgarh to address rallies.

Security in the region has been beefed up following attacks by maoists on voting booths on Monday.
