Passengers in train from Bangalore looted near Pune

Pune, July 2: A group of dacoits looted at least 10 passengers of the Bangalore-Jaipur Express at Jinti Road Junction near Daund in Pune district early on Monday. Most of the passengers who were looted by the men wearing shorts were women.

A medical student was also molested by the dacoits during the operation. She was taken to the toilet and made to strip and the criminals spared her when she shouted for help.

The passengers later said that jewellery and mobile phones worth Rs 2 lakh were looted besides their luggage. The angry passengers stopped the train at Pune railway station and did not allow it to proceed further till a police complaint was filed.

The dacoits attacked the passengers when the train was standing at Jinti Road Junction for nearly half an hour.

The railway guard and the police were not bothered much about the incident, the passengers alleged.
