Puducherry Guv greets people on eve of Vinayaka Chaturthi festival


Puducherry Sept 8: Lt Governor Virendra Kataria on Sunday wished the people of the Union Territory peace, prosperity and joy on the eve of Vinayaka Chaturthi festival.

He said Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated widely as Lord Ganesha is unique not only for India but also for the world at large and is worshiped as God of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune and is invoked at the start of any new venture.

Meanwhile the city is abuzz with festival eve preparations.

Clay models of Lord Ganesha made by rural artisans are displayed in all areas and material like paper umbrellas and flowers are also being sold by the young and the old.

The Vinayaka Chaturthi Celebration committee will hold programmes from tomorrow for a few days.

A 27 foot tall idol of Lord Ganesha has been erected for regular poojas and rituals before immersion in the Bay of Bengal a few days later.
