PWC sexual harassment case: SIT conducts raid at professor's residence

Patna, Sept 22: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Patna police conducted raid at the residence of former professor of Patna Womens' College, Sanjay Datta at Kunnulal Road, Mithapur on Sunday Sept 22. Datta is accused of sexual harassing a student of Mass Communication Department of PWC.

Police has found that charges against Sanjay Datta, seems to be true.


Patna Senior Superintendent of police (SSP) Vikas Vaibhav said in this matter that "we have been requesting his family to cooperate with police in investigation process, as after certain period of time we may appeal to court for his property attachment."

Now, the SIT is investigating this case as they have also contacted SIT of West Bengal to get further details about his family background.

On the investigation, police said that "Datta family came from Village Silda which comes under Binapur Police station area in Midnapore district."

Police also added that "his family came to Patna 25 years ago and got settled here."

"We have been in contact with Bengal police and got to know that hardly any villager know Datta's family," police concluded.

However, Aparna Basu one of the the student of Political Science Department of PWC, accused college Principal Marie Jessie for not cooperating and supressing the matter.

She also claimed that as soon as principal came to know about the Facebook post, she told the victim not to attend classes and to take transfer certificate (TC).

She named Principal and HOD Shefali Roy for pressurising her not to attend classes. All statement were recorded by the SIT team to get investigation done.
